TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® began in the early 1980s with brothers Jon Sorber and Brig Sorber, and a ‘66 Ford pickup truck. Over time, Jon, Brig, their mom, Mary Ellen Sheets, and sister Melanie Bergeron, worked endlessly to grow the family business. They understood that you could build a successful business while taking care of the people you served along with your community. Today, the widely-respected company has more than 380 locations worldwide, 2,800 trucks on the road, 10,000 employees during peak season, and has performed more than 7.5 million moves. We are a company built on Core Values that permeate the entire franchise system.

Over the years we’ve learned a lot about what it takes to make a franchise thrive. We serve both home and business customers daily for their moves, and offer a range of services including packing and unpacking services, storage options, and the sale of moving supplies at franchise locations. These services contribute to customer satisfaction - and they provide additional revenue opportunities for your franchise.

Today, as the nation’s largest franchised local moving company, we’ve set our sights on continued growth and innovation, while remaining rooted to our core principle: exceeding customers’ expectations in quality and value – every time.

Ideal Franchisee

With a year of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® ownership experience, Multi-unit Franchisee Fred Schaard is expanding his presence by taking on the Portland Central, Ore., franchise.
Fred’s son, Joe Schaard, has been a part of the system for three and a half years, after having started in Lansing, Mich., as a mover. He now works as the operations manager in Fred’s franchises.
“Having the chance to travel to new towns, cities, and states as a mover has been extremely rewarding,” Joe said. “So has meeting new people on a daily basis being on the operational side of the franchise. Both aspects are what keep me motivated to come to work every day!”
Both Fred and Joe are enthusiastic about the new opportunities that come along with adding another location.

“We’re most excited about seeing the growth potential for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in Portland and Vancouver, especially since we have been able to help grow it from day one,” said Joe. “I’m amazed at how far we’ve come, but I am also looking forward to what we can continue to achieve in the future.”

Franchisee Testimonial

After graduating from college with a degree in finance, Crain had plans to purchase the family dealership, but after receiving guidance and suggestions from his wife, Karen, he decided to pursue another route — business ownership. The car business was capital intensive and the return on investment wasn’t optimal.

Crain began looking into franchising, but no concepts truly appealed to him. Crain was introduced to the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise through a friend. When he learned of the family-owned, Christian company and their core values, Crain sent in an application, went through the approval process, and moved to Lakeland, Fla., to open his first franchise business in 2007. Since opening his first location, business has grown from a two-truck operation to a 10-truck operation and has achieved impressive growth over the years. In 2014, he expanded his franchise portfolio to include a second location.

Crain has been recognized with the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Franchisee Significant Service Award, Volunteer of the Year, Kiwanis’ Kiwanian of the Year, and was also elected to the Board of the Lakeland Kiwanis Club.
